Moon Backdrop

Sometimes things just work out.  I was admiring the moon on the way home thinking how cool would it be to get a shot of a jet going across the moon……as it turned out the stars aligned, and it happened. 🙂

December Night Moon

I have stated before, I love taking pictures of the moon.  Tonight was a beautiful night.  You can see the seas of fertility, tranquility and serenity, as well as the crater Copernicus.  I’ll be investing i n a better telephoto lens soon, so I’m looking forward to getting better and more clear shots.

December Afternoon Moon

Its pretty cool being able to see the moon up over the eastern horizon at 3pm in the afternoon and the sun setting over the western horizon at the same time.  This moon shot was taken just after 3pm.

Good Morning Moon

Good Morning Moon

Out early this morning, and the moon was still hanging around. It was pretty cool with the sun rising in the east and the moon setting in the west. Not every day you get to see both so clearly.

Full Moon Wednesday

The moon decided to give me a fit this evening.  I took about a dozen pictures, and only this one was worth posting.  I wanted to get a picture closer to the horizon, however, I was a little late getting home so had to settle for a sky only shot.

Beautiful bright full moon tonight.  The tiny spec of light in the upper left of the picture is Jupiter.

Burning Moon

The moon looked really cool tonight.  To the naked eye, you could barley see the full circle of the moon.  This picture was taken from my front porch at about 6:30pm in the evening.  I was surprised when I imported the photos to see how they turned out…..this one struck me.  It looks like the moon is being fully engulfed. The moon is quickly becoming my favorite subject! 🙂

Hazy Moonlit Night

This weekend, the family took our annual camping trip to the mountains of Virginia at one of our favorite campgrounds.  I was hoping for a clear night, however, it ended up being not quite overcast, but hazy enough to eliminate the details of the moon.  There was enough moonlight shining through to provide some neat silhouette pictures of the trees.  Enjoy!
