Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

What I love about these challenges is how people interpret the theme. Ironically, I was sitting down at my computer getting ready to weed through my photos to find “something” to post. Out of the corner of eye, I saw the shadows of the three crosses on the wall. That was when I knew I had my post.

Reflections:
1. It’s good to stop and reflect on the significance of the cross, and the impact Christ has had in my life. It keeps me focused on that which is most important to me.

2. Hanging from the middle cross is my fathers dog tags from when he served in the military. When I see them, its a reminder to stop and reflect not only at how proud I am of my father for his time in service, but also for all the men and women who serve and sacrificed for the freedoms that I have today.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

Weekly Photo Challenge: Green

After cutting the grass, Winston (our pug) would run around and always come in with “green” mittens on his paws. The fresh cut grass always stained his fur on his paws and legs πŸ™‚

Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

This is a historic landmark in Hanover VA, depicting a church that was destroyed during the Civil War.

This photo represent Renewal in two ways:
1. Renewal of the memory of the church and its significance
2. Spiritual Renewal

Weekly Photo Challenge – Geometry

Weekly Photo Challenge – Geometry

My first attempt at a Bulb Exposure. It didn’t turn out great, but a great representation of the word “geometry”.

β€˜Geometry is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space.’ – Wiki

Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreign

Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreign

I had to put some thought into how to interpret “Foreign”. There are so many things that come to mind, but this picture was the one that kept coming back to me.

As with most islands, tourism is the primary means of income, so outside of the tourism realm, they tend to be very poor areas. During one of our visits, these two children were playing outside. What struck me was how they entertained themselves. A bucket top and a stick was all that was used, and the game was to see how long you can keep the top rolling only using a stick. The boy was demonstrating to the group of tourists, very excitedly might I add, and the little sister was following behind.

Living in the United States, the idea of kids today “coming up” with something to do for entertainment is “foreign”.

I love these pictures.Β  As with most puppies, it doesn’t take long to wear out from playing, and Winston was no exception.Β  He claimed my son’s “Elmo” chair as his own very early on.Β  The first picture was him settled in getting ready to nod off, by the time you get to the third picture, you can see he was well on his way to dreamland! These photos make me laugh every time I see them πŸ™‚

Man’s Best Friend

Man's Best Friend

Let me introduce my neighbor’s dog Brownie (aka Big Brown).Β  I love Big Brown, because he is always there to greet me and is always ready to play.Β  And……if I don’t acknowledge him, he can get pretty vocal about it!Β  πŸ™‚
